Stationed onboard from Feb 1968 to June 1969. I was a DP1 when I station on the Canopus while she wasin Rota. Kind of crazy down around Red Square. There was one place we could get vino for a penny a glass. It was aged about 15 minutes. You peed up against the back wall. We all called it the Officer's Club. a many of good times were had by all. Still would like to find a DPC Al Wolfe.

I served onboard from Dec 1978 - Aug 1980. Rota, and the trip back to Charleston. I think there are still a few shipmates making soccer balls in the Cadiz jail.....

USS Canopus (AS-34) Holy Loch Scotland (74-75)

First duty station - Arrived February of 74 (three inches of frost on the ground) and departed August of 75 - started as a mess cook and then into S7 - Had many great time at PJs, ate plenty of Fish and Chips, and definitely hit the roach coach prior to getting back on board. Knew Dunoon quite well and loved traveling the rest of Scotland and got down into London a couple of times.
